On January 11th, 2013, CEES Network at RPI welcomed approximately 30 of 11th and 12th grade students from local Schalmont High School. These students were part of the Rensselaer’s Engineering Ambassadors (EA) Program that allows RPI’s highly motivated students to inspire high school students to become interested in engineering, science and its impact on society. This program focuses on presentations on different range of engineering subjects and also has a hands-on sessions where students can build structure models.
CEES Center spent half a day providing tours of the centrifuge facility and presentations on basics of civil engineering and earthquake simulation testing, and also demonstrated the live flight of the mini-centrifuge. Girls comprised about half of all students that attended.
