H. S. Students from Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams Initiative Visit RPI

On March 7, 2012, teams of high school students from Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams toured the centrifuge lab as part of a visit to the RPI campus for the Lemelson-MIT prize presentation. Dr. Victoria Bennett provided informational sessions and lab tours for InvenTeams from S.S. Seward Institute in Florida, NY, Berlin High School in Cherry Plain, NY, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County of Westport, NY, and Saratoga Springs High School in Saratoga Springs, NY, in addition to robotics teams from Shenendehowa High School, Albany High School, and Shaker High School.

The InvenTeam initiative, created by the Lemelson-MIT Program, offers an unique opportunity for high school students to cultivate their creativity and experience invention. InvenTeams are teams of high school students, teachers, and mentors that receive grants up to $10,000 each to invent technological solutions to real-world problems. Each InvenTeam chooses its own problem to solve.
